作为一项原材料近净成形技术，熔模精密铸造(又被称为熔模铸造)在高精密、繁杂构造铸件，尤其是高冶炼环境温度、高化学活性金属成形中起到不可替代的效果。专业精密铸造工艺从抑制蜡模、组树、制型、脱腊、培烧，再浇筑成铸件，工艺全过程繁杂且时间长，也正是这样的工艺全过程，使熔模铸造具备无限魅力，主要特点包含以下几个方面。
(1)加工精度高。样子(蜡模)能通过金属模具抑制，采用建筑涂料产生平滑的凹模表层，立即熔出蜡模而大程度降低了别的锻造工艺中牙模型和合型后的精密度损害。
(2)铸件构造繁琐。由蜡模立即授予铸件样子，尤其是瓷器型芯的应用，促使繁杂内壁能够实现。无需开型牙模型，防止了牙模型对繁杂金属型铸的牵制。选用热壳浇筑，金属材料充型能力很强,能完成繁杂金属型铸的浇筑。
