现阶段锌合金材料压铸件最少厚度达到0.3mm；铝合金型材铸件可以达到0.5mm；最少铸出直径为0.7mm；最少牙距为0.75mm。因为压铸件尺寸准确，表面光洁等特点。一般精密铸造件不再进行机械加工制造而直接用，或加工量不大，因此既提升了金属材料使用率，又降低了很多的生产设备和工时；铸件价钱便宜；可以采取组成铝压铸以其余金属材料或非金属材质。既节约磨工的时候又节约金属材料。
中国古代：王子午鼎、铜禁、铜狮这些，全是壳型精密铸造的作品。自20世际40时代熔模铸造用以工业化生产后，半世纪中一直以较快的速度发展趋势着。尤其是欧洲地区迅速发展。熔模铸造用以航空公司、武器单位外，基本上用于全部产业部门，尤其是电子器件、原油、化工厂、电力能源、道路运输、轻工业、纺织品、制药业、医疗机械、泵和阀等相关部门。
