当代熔模精密铸造加工工艺是在古时候精密铸造的前提下发展出来的。二战时期，驻云南保山的同盟国专家看到本地人这个方法制造艺术品深受启发，把它改善并且用到机械设备构件生产制造上，此后这种技术性在全球快速获得发展。
当代熔模精密铸造方式在工业化生产中获得实践应用是在20世际40时代。那时候航空公司涡喷发动机的发展，规定制造像叶子、离心叶轮、喷头等样子繁杂，规格准确及其表面光洁的耐磨合金钢零件。因为耐磨合金钢原材料难以机械加工制造，零件外形繁杂，以至不可以或不易用别的方式制造，所以需要找寻一种新的准确的成型方法，因此参考古时候流传下来的失蜡精密铸造，通过对材料及工艺改善，当代熔模精密铸造方式在古代工艺的前提下得到极为重要的发展。
